"Solar Park" at Company Headquarters to Demonstrate, Assess Various Solar Technologies
Sika Sarnafil is hosting a “Solar Park” at its Canton, Massachusetts facility that will generate a sizeable portion of the electricity needed at the company site – and serve as a test platform for four unique solar photovoltaic technologies.
Solar-ready vinyl roofing systems from Sika Sarnafil have been used for many years to protect building interiors from the elements while supporting the generation of clean, renewable energy for building occupants. Working in partnership with Greenskies Renewable Energy LLC, a Connecticut-based solar system integrator, Sika Sarnafil will use this Solar Park to document the capabilities of leading-edge solar technologies and give customers a first-hand look at the operational aspects of various systems.
Phase I of the Solar Park at Sika Sarnafil headquarters has been completed and has resulted in the installation of two 12,500 sq. ft. solar arrays. Array in the foreground consists of 450 Solyndra thin-film modules. Array in background and tilted at an angle consists of 325 Sharp monocrystalline silicon modules. Phase II will involve installation of two additional arrays featuring distinct technologies.
Solar modules can last more than 25 years, necessitating a long-lasting roofing system. Sika Sarnafil solar-ready vinyl roof systems are lightweight, require minimal maintenance, and have been proven to last for decades. The company’s white, reflective EnergySmart Roof® membrane helps keep building interiors cooler and keeps PV modules cooler, as well. This contributes to the efficiency of the solar modules.
