Human Resources Generalist, Canton, MA (Exempt)

As the right hand of the local Human Resources Director the Human Resources Generalist will implement and handle a wide variety of Human Resources generalist duties involving employee benefits programs, compensation, staffing, HRIS, related record keeping, related report generation, filing, employee relations activities in the manufacturing area, and other assignments and project work as needed under the immediate direction of the local HR Director. This position will interface and coordinate closely with the Human Resources Coordinator and other company representatives. This position will also interface and coordinate (but not supervise) the Receptionist as needed.

This position reports the local Director, Human Resources.

The responsibilities include:
  • Ensure that the benefit records, forms, administration, and insurance premium payments of corporate benefit programs such as medical, dental, life insurance, vision, 401(k), short and long-term disability, family and medical leaves and other benefits are in compliance.
  • Advise and provide information to employees on eligibility, enrollment, claims administration, explanation of benefit payments, etc.; researches and resolves problems and issues.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with insurance representatives, providers of service and other vendors to insure prompt and accurate payments; act as liaison between employees and insurance carriers.
  • Analyze and prepare all required HR reports related to staffing, turnover, disability, employee benefits, and other benefit communications as needed.
  • Maintain and insure accuracy of data into HRIS system and ensure compliance with all legal and internal company requirements and policies of personnel files on all employees.
  • Compose correspondence and prepare reports or replies to requests for information within areas of responsibility.
  • Support the recruitment and selection process for the Sika Sarnafil Division. This includes preparation of job requisitions, prepare and post internal job postings, prepare and place employment advertisements, contact agencies, screen resumes, schedule and conduct interviews (under the direct supervision of the local Human Resources Director), conduct reference/background checks, coordinate physicals, prepare offer letters and conduct new employee orientations.
  • Assist and facilitate local training programs
  • Administer all related paper flow for increases, promotions, transfers, terminations, performance appraisals, etc.; maintain all related records.
  • Assist supervision under the direction of the local HR Director on appropriate employee corrective action and documentation up to and including the coordination of separations from employment, exit interviews and outplacement service.
  • Help coordinate the implementation, interpretation and administration of established HR policies and programs; inform and counsel employees and management on issues concerning HR policies, performance, complaints and other matters.
  • Receive and audit insurance premiums and other employer required payments, processes and related files.
  • Advise and provide information to employees on eligibility, enrollment, claims administration, explanation of benefit payments, etc.; researches and resolves problems and issues.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with insurance representatives, providers of service and other vendors to insure prompt and accurate payments; act as liaison between employees and insurance carriers.
  • Handle Affirmative Action reporting and EEO tracking
  • Coordinate proper switchboard coverage including needed backup/relief coverage.
  • Perform special projects and other assignments as required.
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources with 3-4 years experience working in a similar position OR Associates Degree and a minimum of 3 years of solid HR related experience
  • PHR certification desirable
  • Must have excellent organization and interpersonal skills; effective oral and written communication skills; working knowledge of personnel policies and procedures
Required Skills and Abilities:
  • PC literate with our prevailing software and systems (in particular Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Human Resources software, ideally ADP HR Profile/Payroll for Windows, Electronic Time tracking and security systems desired, E-Time and HR Profile,), Lotus Notes email desirable
  • Provide a service oriented approach
  • Extremely detailed-oriented
  • Must be able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in an accurate manner
  • Analytical and mathematical abilities
  • Ability to present information with varying degrees of difficulty, and to know how to adjust communication style depending upon circumstances and audience
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with all levels of the organization
