Solar Electric Roofing

Unleash the power of the sun and turn your roofing liability into an energy producing asset.  A building integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) solar electric roofing system will reduce your energy costs and your reliance on the utility grid while providing you with a lightweight, high performance roofing system.

This system consists of 10-ft-by-40-ft photovoltaic roofing panels that are factory-laminated by Solar Integrated Systems to Sika Sarnafil’s highly reflective EnergySmart Roof® membrane. These panels are in turn hot-air welded to an installed Sika Sarnafil EnergySmart Roof.

The result is a photovoltaic roofing system that protects the building interior from the elements while generating power for its electricity needs.  Not only will a company save money on energy costs but often times they can also get credit for feeding its excess solar power into the local electrical grid.

Solar integrated roofing systems have been installed, or installation is in progress, on 14 San Diego city schools, with more scheduled in the coming two years. The school system expects to save millions of dollars in energy costs over the next 20 years, in addition to helping the state make progress toward the goal of generating 20 percent of its electricity with renewable sources by 2017.
