Sarnafil Introduces Industry First Highly Reflective “Tan” Roofing
Membrane Vinyl roofing membrane exceeds the requirements of ENERGY
STAR®, Title 24 and LEED®. Canton, Mass. – November
20, 2006 – Sarnafil Inc., a world-wide leading manufacturer of thermoplastic roofing and waterproofing
systems, announces the addition of “Tan” to the EnergySmart Roof® color family. Sarnafil’s Tan
is the first tan thermoplastic roofing membrane in the industry to be formulated to meet the requirements
of the ENERGY STAR® Roof Products Program, California Title 24 and USGBC’s LEED® program for low sloped
applications.
Sarnafil’s EnergySmart Roof membranes have a highly reflective, lacquer
coated weathering surface that can reduce the amount of energy required to cool an air-conditioned building
compared to dark colored, low reflectivity roofing systems. The EnergySmart Roof membranes reflect
a large portion of the sun’s solar energy, reducing heat buildup on the roof surface and thereby minimizing
heat transfer into the building’s interior. The result is reduced energy costs for the building
owner and lower demand on the electrical grid. Sarnafil’s EnergySmart Roof family of colors includes
white, light grey, patina green and tan.
“Highly reflective, energy efficient roofing systems are an important
component of a national strategy to reduce the energy consumption of our buildings,” says Brian Whelan,
president and CEO of Sarnafil Inc. “By providing more color options the building designer and
owner can achieve their energy efficiency goals without giving up design freedom.”
The new tan colored membrane is also available as part of Sarnafil’s
Décor Roof Systems product line along with White, Light Grey, Patina Green, Copper Brown, Lead Grey
and Evergreen. Décor Roof Systems provide the look of a metal roof but have the watertight performance
of a thermoplastic, single-ply membrane. Décor offers both a standing seam and batten seam roof
option.
